Matthew C. Harwell

Dr. Matt Harwell is an ecologist with the US EPA. Matt has spent two decades working on restoration science in multiple systems including Chesapeake Bay, Lake Okeechobee, South Florida and the Greater Everglades, and the Gulf of Mexico. Matt’s areas of specialization include ecosystem assessment, integration and communication of science for decision makers, and adaptive management and ecosystem restoration. Matt is a founding Board Member of the Large-Scale Ecosystem Restoration of the Society for Ecological Restoration. In his current role, Matt helps lead US EPA's Office of Research and Development's national research portfolio on ecosystem services science to support community, ecosystem, and contaminated site cleanup decision making.
