The main areas of interest include mass diffusion through polymeric materials and packaging structure design. Most of his efforts were put forward to determine the relationships existing between physical and chemical structure of polymers and their mass transport properties. This topic has been approached both from a theoretical and from an experimental point of view. The knowledge gained studying mass transport phenomena through polymer has been applied for developing tools intended for packaging structure design. He is now actively working on active packaging. In particular, he is developing active packaging with antimicrobial activity. He has published over 100 papers on topics related to polymer science and food science.
