Bio
Mathieu Rouault is a soft funded researcher. He is also the president of the South African Society for Atmospheric Science. His research encompass all aspects of ocean atmosphere interaction from numerical modelling to experimental work at sea, from meteorology and physical oceanography to climatology and the impact of climate change and variability on marine ecosystems and water resource.
Mathieu’s research project are varied; most of which relate to the impact of the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on Southern African climate and water resources, mechanisms and prediction of Benguela Ninos, characterisation and mechanisms of coastal ocean climate change and variability, relationship between ocean climate variability and marine ecosystem and role of the Agulhas Current in the weather and climate of South Africa. Currently, he is offering his expertise on the ACDI-affiliated El nino Ready Nations Project, is supervising PHD, Master and Honor student and offers teaching in air-sea interaction in the dept of Oceanography.
