As part of my work with the Alberta Congenital anomalies surveillance system (ACASS), I am involved in research on the risk factors, prevalence and possible causes of congenital anomalies (birth defects) and hope that this work helps families understand recurrence risks and to eventually have access to possible primary prevention strategies (preventing congenital anomalies from developing).
