Martin Horwath received the Diploma degree in mathematics and the Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) degree in geodesy from Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), Dresden, Germany, in 1998 and 2007, respectively. He worked as a Research Assistant at TU Dresden from 1998 to 2008, as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales /Groupe de Recherche de Géodésie Spatiale (CNES/GRGS) and the Laboratoire d’Études en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiales (LEGOS), Toulouse, France, from 2008 to 2010, and as a Research Scientist at the Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany, from 2010 to 2014. Since 2014, he has been a Professor holding the Chair of Geodetic Earth System Research, TU Dresden. His research interests include applications of satellite geodesy and physical geodesy to earth system research. A research focus is on questions of ice sheet dynamics and mass balance and the interactions between ice mass changes, solid-earth deformations and sea level change, tackled by the combination of geodetic measurements from (by satellites and in situ) with physical modeling.
