个人简介
I love being able to integrate the different activities that I enjoy so much, such as teaching, the one-to-one mentoring of psychotherapy supervision and research, as well as my own clinical work. Each one of these activities serves to stimulate and enrich the others. My teaching and research interests are primarily focused on applied clinical issues such as psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Concerning my work with M.A. and Ph.D students at Adelphi, I believe a training model that integrates research with practice is very effective in getting students involved and passionate about clinical psychology. I believe the same integration of practice and research is vital in teaching undergraduate courses as well. Most topics in psychology are best learned from a hands-on approach, learning through doing. In the undergraduate psychology classes I teach this means asking students to keep dream diaries, rating various stressors in their lives, behaviorally tracking bad habits they’d like to quit (i.e. biting fingernails, snacking, drinking coffee, playing videogames, etc) and even developing their own scales of personality to better understand the various issues involved in the principles of psychological testing.
