Bio
Professor Mark Webber has established an international reputation in the study of the mechanisms and biology of antibiotic resistance, bacterial responses to stress and biofilm formation and has published over 90 articles in these areas since 2001. Webber was awarded a prestigious BBSRC David Phillips Fellowship in 2007 and took up a tenured position within the Institute for Microbiology and Infection at Birmingham at the beginning of 2012. He joined the Quadram Institute at Norwich to take up a position as a Group Leader at the end of 2016. His research is interested in understanding how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, transfer resistance genes and has recently focused on developing approaches to inhibit biofilm formation in collaboration with clinical and academic colleagues interested in wound infection and development of novel antimicrobial materials.
