Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Maria Bostenaru Dan graduated in architecture, specialization in urbanism, at the Universität Karlsruhe/Germany. She was also guest student at the University of Arts in Karlsruhe, completing a workshop under the supervision of Daniel Libeskind. She hold internships during the time there in Romania (competition Victoriei square/Dobre&Olteanu and Saint John monastery/tranconstrunct) and in Germany (Kramm et Strigl, Darmstadt). Her scientific title is from the „Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, where she is employed as research scientist since her return after more than a decade abroad, after an internship in a Greek-Romanian office (Studio T) working on a hospital for Greece. She was awarded 3 Marie Curie Fellowships by the European Commission, two of them in Pavia, Italy, and a Canadian Centre of Architecture support grant. She was editorial board member 2003-2006 at the "World Housing Encyclopedia" (USA). She did online reviews for the design class at City University of New York (class of Lia Dikigoropolou) for some years. She was committee management committee member at two COST actions, substitute for another two, and observer for a third and the ESF NeDiMAH network and at ICOMOS ISCARSAH and ISCEC. In frame of COST networks she spent two month at the University of Algarve, Portugal and in Lisbon, Portugal. After her return to Romania she spent time in Karlsruhe in frame of ESF and COST networks and with an UEFISCDI mobility project respectively. With a COST network she spent time in Bruchsal, Germany, at State Palaces and Gardens. She was accepted for a short postdoctoral stay at Dumberton Oaks (Harvard) which she could not complete for logistic issues. She authored numerous books and is editor and reviewer, and (co)convener of a series of session at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly since nearly two decades. She is member of the external public body of the Hungarian Academy and as such spent a month in Budapest in 2014 and hold a scholarship in the home country 2018-2019 (half academic year). In 2014-15 she had a postdoctoral grant at the Faculty of Geography of the University of Bucharest. In 2015-16 she spent an academic year at the Romanian Academy in Rome, where she also volunteered for the Spazi Aperti exhibition and brought the sessions from the EGU there.
