个人简介
I conduct research in biostatistical methods in the areas of causal inference, missing data, and survival analysis, supported by a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) fellowship from the Australian Research Council. This research is fuelled by various collaborative projects, particularly in life course and social epidemiology.
I am based at the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit at the University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), where I am Senior Research Fellow and lead a team of biostatisticians with focus on bringing expertise in causal inference methods to life course and other epidemiological studies at the Melbourne Children's campus. Since 2016 I belong to the leadership team of the Victorian Centre for Biostatistics (ViCBiostat), a collaboration of researchers in biostatistics across three institutions (University of Melbourne, MCRI and Monash University). I am also biostatistical lead of the MCRI's LifeCourse Initiative, which comprises over 40 cohort studies in child and adolescent health. Regarding my background, I obtained a BSc in Mathematics at Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, 2008) and an MSc in Statistics at Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, 2010), followed by a PhD in Biostatistics at Université Paris-Sud (Paris, 2014). My PhD project focused on methods to deal with missing outcomes, specifically in two settings: longitudinal data with informative drop-out and time-to-event data with competing risks. In 2014 I held a postdoctoral role at the French Epidemiology Centre on Medical Causes of Death (Inserm CépiDc). The work I started there followed from my research on survival analysis with competing risks data, and focused mainly on two topics related to the analysis of cause-specific mortality: the development of indices to measure socioeconomic inequalities in mortality, and the development of a model for multiple-cause mortality (i.e. when death is caused by more than one disease). In late 2014, I moved to Melbourne to join ViCBiostat and I have expanded my research interests to the area of causal inference, in particular mediation analysis.
