个人简介
Dr. Mak obtained her Professional Diploma in Physiotherapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Master of Applied Sciences and PhD degrees from the Curtin University of Technology, Australia. Her clinical and research interests are in the area of neurological rehabilitation, especially of people with Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Mak studies motor planning, balance and functional problems in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). Dr. Mak has developed an innovative task-specific cued training protocol to enhance sit-to-stand as well as feed-forward audio-visual training for enhancing walking under dual-task conditions in people with PD. She has also found that fear of falling is one of the significant risk factors that leads to future falls in people with PD. Her ongoing research projects include the long-term effect of balance enhancement programme in people with PD and the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the positive effects of audio-visual cues in people with PD.
