My current research is focused on understanding the properties of strongly coupled quantum fluids, notably the super-hot Quark-Gluon Plasma and ultra-cold atomic quantum gases. Of particular interest are the dissipative properties, e.g. given by the shear viscosity, and their connection to the dynamics of intrinsic fluctuations. Realistic simulations of the latter are crucial for understanding matter at phase transitions, e.g. helping in the quest of finding the conjectured QCD critical point.
