个人简介
Institutional and academic activities
Since 20/4/2017 he belongs to the GTA group in Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials and Processes.
Since 18/5/2017 he belong, as Chemical Sciences representative, to the evaluation committee board of ALMAIDEA projects.
He belongs to the PhD board in Nanoscience for Medecine and Environment.
Scientific and relevant achievements
The results of his researches have been documented in more than 140 scientific papers, most of them published on renowned international journals of high impact factor (including Nature, PNAS, Angewandte, JACS). He has also contributed to reviews (e.g. Rev. Com. Chem. 2000, 15, 87-146; Theor. Chem. Acc. 2006, 116, 87-105) and books (e.g. COMPUTATIONAL PHOTOCHEMISTRY -Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, Vol. 16 - 2005; M. Olivucci, Ed.; Elsevier, Amsterdam, pp. 191-223) in computational photochemistry. Recently (2005) his scientific achievements have been of impact in the public audience, being the matter of interest for national (non-specialized) newspapers and radio/TV broadcasts (see: http://www.tgcom.mediaset.it/tgmagazine/articoli/articolo260901.shtml).
h-index
His papers have received more than 5000 citations, his h-factor is 40 (Source: ISI Web of Knowledge).
Referee and editorial activity
He is a regular referee of ACS journals (e.g. JACS, JPC, JCTC), RCS journals (e.g. PCCP, ChemComm, Dalton Transactions, Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry) and Wiley-VCH journals (e.g. Eur. J. Org. Chem., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Eur. J.). He is guest editor of the Theoretical Chemistry Accounts special memorial issue in honour of Prof. Fernando Bernardi, scheduled to appear at the end 2007.
International experience
The results of his researches have been presented in more than 60 International Congresses, Meetings and Workshops to which he has contributed with oral communications or invited key lectures (10 invited lectures only in the last five years). He has been invited to present lecture courses and seminar lessons in International Summer Schools (e.g. European School of Computational Chemistry –ESCC– 1999, Perugia, Italy; SMART, Pisa, Italy, 2016; WISPOC School 2017) and Universities (e.g. Paderborn University, Germany, 2003) as visiting Professor.
Congress organization
MG has organized the international symposium "Modeling Complex Molecular and Biomaterial Systems: Simulation of Reactive Processes, Methodological Advances and Interplay with the Experiments" at the ICCMSE-2007 congress (25-30 September, Corfu, Greece). The proceedings have been published by the American Institute of Physics: AIP Conf. Proc. 2007, 963 (Vol. 1 e 2).
Awards
For his activity he received several awards, including the prestigious PRIMO LEVI Prize 2004 by the Italian Chemical Society, and the 2004 Younger European Chemists commendation award honoured in Turin at “The 2004 Younger European Chemists' Conference”. In 2012 MG has been honoured by a JSPS (Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science) award
International Grants
In 2012 MG has been awarded an ERC Adv Grant (GA. 291198) for the project “Structure and dynamics of biomolecules by two-dimensional ultraviolet spectroscopy”.
ITN Marie-Curie – H2020. In 2017 he has been awarded a Marie-Curie ITN (ITN-ETN 765266-LightDyNAmics) as UNIBO-unit partner leader. The project will start officially on April 2018 (3.8 M€, 258k€ for UNIBO unit).
