Marlin W. Focht

Marlin W. Focht received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, in 1973. He joined AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, in 1967, and worked in material characterization and LED development. During 1970–1980, he was with Research Devices, Inc., Brooklyn Heights, NY, as Vice President of operations, infrared microscope development, and marketing for forensic applications. He rejoined AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1980, where he carried out research on laser and VCSEL development, in conjunction with the Solid State Technology Center, Breinigsville, PA. Since 2000, he has been with Agility Communications, Inc., Santa Barbara, CA, as the Platform Architect for widely tunable lasers.
