My research focuses on the ecology of terrestrial plant communities in the tropics. I want to understand the spatial organization of plant species, their responses to environmental pressures, and how they influence their surroundings. Specifically, I am interested in how subordinate plant species (those that are not dominant in their communities) are spatially organized, influence ecosystem processes, or promote the diversity of different plant groups such as vines and epiphytes.
