Masahito Kobayashi

Masahito Kobayashi received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1987, 1989, and 1996, respectively. Since 1989, he has been with the Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory, Hitachi Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan, where he is currently a Senior Manager of the Magnetic Drive Technology Research Department in the Central Research Laboratory. From 1998 to 1999, he was a Visiting Industrial Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include the design of adaptive control, neural networks for control, and hard disk drive motion control. Dr. Kobayashi received engineering awards from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2000.
