Mikel Agustin received the Diploma in telecommunication engineering
from the Public University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain, and completed his education in the Institute of
Telecommunications, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland, as a member of Prof. J. Turkiewicz team. He
participated in the EU FP7 project ADDAPT (Adaptive Data and Power Aware Transceivers for Optical Communications),
which aims at the development of novel dynamic transceiver subsystems. In 2015, he joined the VI-Systems GmbH, where
he is responsible for development energy efficient ultrafast vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and
photodetectors, contributing significantly to high-frequency characterization of record-fast devices for data
communications, which presently extend up to 120 Gb/s per single VCSEL.
