Dr Zhou has broad research interest in medical image analysis, machine learning and computer vision. Her current research is focused on medical image analysis with statistical graphical models and deep learning.
Research interests
The advent of medical imaging techniques such as CT and MRI scans has significantly reshaped modern medical research and practice, transforming hospital diagnostic and treatment protocols. Dr Luping Zhou's research in computer-assisted medical image analysis aims to enhance the efficacy of these tools along with associated patient outcomes.
One of her current research focuses is to improve the early prediction of mental diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease (which is the second-leading cause of death in Australia), using imaging-based bio-markers automatically identified from brain images.
