His work focuses on evaluating the soft-tissue structures and their importance to knee mechanics and kinematics to restore native biomechanics after ligament and meniscus injuries. His interdisciplinary approach to musculoskeletal research (in vivo, in vitro) combines the basic and clinical aspects of his work. Lukas’ work is highlighted by several research awards and grants (AGA Best Paper and AGA Best Poster Award, German Research Foundation Grant, AGA Research Grant) as well as numerous high impact publications.
