Luigi Bianchi (luigi.bianchi@uniroma2.it) graduated from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, with a degree in electronic engineering and received his Ph.D. degree in neurophysiology: neural basis of superior cognitive functions from the University of Rome, La Sapienza. He is an assistant professor at Tor Vergata University, Rome. He has worked for several years as a consultant for an Italian medical device manufacturer and has been the chief software architect of several commercial products. He also implemented the first Italian brain-computer interface (BCI) system as well as the first wearable BCI system described in the literature. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals. His main interests are real-time and offline signal processing, BCI, and assistive technologies. He has released many free tools that can be downloaded from his laboratory website: http://www.brainterface.com.
