Lucian Popa is a Principal Research Staff Member at IBM Almaden Research Center, where he manages a team focused on human-in-the-loop systems for structured knowledge creation and learning. His research is focused on bringing together human, data, and machine, to facilitate the next-generation of data-driven AI systems. Lucian is known for his work on schema mapping, data exchange and, more recently, entity resolution. He has contributed to several IBM products, and is one of the developers of HIL, a declarative framework for scalable entity resolution. He has co-authored numerous research publications that are highly cited, with two of them receiving Test-of-Time Awards. He is an ACM Distinguished Member.
