Prof. Battistella is an expert in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and her areas of interest are Functional Assessment and Quality of Life, especially the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). She was President of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (2004-2006) and of the Brazilian Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Association (2005-2007), and chairs the Board of Directors of the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Institute of the University of Sao Paulo Medical School General Hospital and of the Lucy Montoro Rehabilitation Network. She co-chaired the Guidelines Development Group for WHO Recommendations on Strengthening Rehabilitation in Health Systems (2012-2017). She coordinates the UNiversity of Sao Paulo Medical School's Residency Program on Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
