个人简介
As a Post-Doctoral associate, Dr. Cirrincione’s research has been to explore pharmacologic issues surrounding HIV treatment and prevention. Specifically, she has been leading a clinical study in transgender women, exploring the pharmacokinetics of an established pharmacologic strategy for HIV prevention with gender-affirming hormone therapy. Her long-term research goals are to promote evidence-based health care delivery to medically underserved populations including transgender and gender non-conforming individuals underrepresented in clinical research initiatives. Lauren has provided teaching and guest lecturing in Pharmacotherapy III courses along with mentoring of PharmD students and fellows. Going forward, Lauren’s primary responsibilities in the Department of Pharmacy will be to continue her research to address interventions to reduce the barriers to quality care for underserved populations by evaluating HIV medication treatment and prophylactic therapy interactions with hormonal and surgical treatments that are part of gender affirming medical care and to assess differential impacts of chronic diseases and respective therapies in transgender individuals receiving gender affirming therapies. She will also be contributing to the implementation and instruction in the new PharmD curriculum in areas of her expertise.
