Landon Yoder

My research focuses on solving collective-action problems in agricultural watersheds by addressing water governance, land use, and agri-environmental policy together. In particular, my work has demonstrated the importance of collective incentives in changing on-farm drainage practices to improve water quality in the Florida Everglades. Shifting incentives from individuals to groups has crucial implications for drawing on social norms and sustaining improved water management. As a human-environmental geographer, my research is situated at the intersection of three interdisciplinary sub-fields: human dimensions of global environmental change, new institutional economics, and political ecology. I employ mixed methods of semi-structured interviews and spatial and statistical analysis.
