Ksenija Dumicic, Ph.D., gained a Ph.D. degree in Economy at Univ. of Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB), where she was the Full Professor Tenured at the Department of Statistics. She lectured statistical courses in English (quantitative research methods, business statistics, econometrics, survey sampling, and SQC).
Currently, as Visiting Professor, she is a Course Conductor for Statistical Research Methods at a Ph.D. study at DOBA Business School and Faculty of Commercial and Business Sciences. At International Statistical Institute, she is Chair of the ISI Committee for Women in Statistics (CW-ISI) and the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) Member for the 64th World Statistics Congress, ISI WSC 2023, in Ottawa. She is a member of the IPC for Young Statisticians Meeting, for youngsters from Croatia and four neighboring countries, Sci. Committee for International Balkan and Near Eastern Social Sciences Conference Series (IBANESS), IPC member at International Symposium on Operations Research, Slovenia, and New Challenges in Economic and Business Development Conference, at Faculty of Business, Management, and Economics, the University of Latvia in Riga. Since 2017, she is a Jury Committee Member for Statistical Competition (EC project Support for statistical literacy actions in the area of competition, gamification, and e-learning, at the Croatian Bureau of Statistics). She serves as Advisory Committee Member at Balkan Economic Forum - BEF.
She specialized in Sampling Program for Survey Statisticians at the Institute for Social Research, Univ. of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA (Leslie Kish Int. Fellowship Award), and Training of European Statisticians (TES) at Univ. of Southampton, UK. She is an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), contributing to the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) as Country Representative at the International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS), and as Chair of the Committee on Women in Statistics. She is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), ASA, ASQ, Country Representatives Committee at Caucus for Women in Statistics (CWS), and at CW-ISI. At the FEB Department of Statistics, she founded the first postgraduate statistical study in Croatia, being its Chair for 15 years. She served as the first active President of the Croatian Statistical Association (CSA), where she started and has been Chair of the CSA Section for Women in Statistics, co-founded a series of International Statistical Conferences in Croatia (ISCCRO), and co-founded the first Croatian statistical journal Croatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics (CREBSS), serving as its first Chief Editor. She was a Board member of European Courses in Advanced Statistics (ECAS) and FENStatS. For 20 years she lectured at War College Ban Josip Jelacic at Croatian Military Academy Petar Zrinski. She supervised 9 doctoral students. She was an editor for scientific journals and conferences and published more than 250 papers, in journals indexed on relevant scientific bases,12 book chapters, and four textbooks. She edited a textbook and two conference proceedings, special issues of journals, etc. For Springer's International Encyclopedia of Statistical Science (Chief Editor: M. Lovric), she was the Organizational Committee President for Croatia. She gave Invited Talks: at the 63rd virtual ISI WSC 2021, in the Invited Papers Session Cross-Cultural Leadership in Statistics and Data Science for a Better World, the talk The Coin that Improbably Landed on its Edge; in 2019, at the Statistical Society of Vojvodina, in Faculty of Science, in Novi Sad; at the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on behalf of CW-ISI, gave the talk for the ISI Young Statisticians Workshop (YS-ISI2019) entitled About the ISI Committee on Women in Statistics (CW-ISI) (http://www.ys-isi.org/index.php/ys-isi2019); and had an Invited Papers Session talk, too; in 2018, she was an Invited Speaker at ICOTS10, Kyoto, Japan; and was a Plenary Speaker at ICOS2019 & ICOS2017, in Sarajevo. She led projects granted by Croatian Sci. Foundation, was a Sampling Consultant at EC projects IPA & PHARE, Consultant at the World Bank project Statistical Master Plan for the Republic of Croatia, Sampling Consultant at the UNICEF and World Health Organization project MICS-Multi-indicator Survey in Croatia – Research into Parental Knowledge and Behavior Concerning Children’s Health and Nutrition. She is co-founder of Ipsos West Adria Ltd., the largest research agency in Croatia, operating internationally.
