Current research
The role of interactions in coevolution, in particular: extracting coordinate systems from interactive domains, e.g., game matrices. See our recent paper on that topic.
The role of semantics in genetic programming, in particular in autonomous problem decomposition and operator design. We came up with the concept of functional semantics described in this paper.
Generative, evolution-based pattern recognition
Evolutionary computation for games
Our hybrid of coevolution with reinforcement learning plays small-board game of Go at a decent level. See the progress of evolution and the paper.
We evolved well-performing strategies for the Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game simulated in ORTS environment. See a short movie that demonstrates the behavior of an exemplary evolved individual.
NeuroHunter, a neural net evolved by our team won the GECCO'2008 Balanced Diet contest.
BrilliAnt, a program evolved by our team won the GECCO'2007 Ant Wars contest.
Pattern recognition and image analysis
Our evolved cascade of detectors successfully locates vehicles in satellite imagery. See exemplary results of detection and the paper that describes the approach.
Software package and the results of experiments reported in our joint paper with Paweł Lichocki, entitled "Using Co-solvability to Model and Exploit Synergetic Effects in Evolution", submitted to PPSN 2010 conference
