Dr Ghasemi Falavarjani was graduated in Ophthalmology from Iran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran. He passed the Iranian National Board Examination with the highest rank. Then, he was trained in Surgical and Medical Fellowship in Retina in the same institution. He completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Retina an the University of the California, Los Angeles. Also, he has had a 6-month course of Ophthalmic Oncology training. Dr. Ghasemi Falavarjani is a research oriented Professor of Ophthalmology at the Eye Department, Iran University of Medical Sciences, with a high level of knowledge not only in clinical ophthalmology but in research and development. Dr Falavarjani published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed scientific ophthalmology journals led to thousands of citations. Based on one of his publication, he awarded the best clinical research in the highest Iranian medical festival (Razi International Medical Festival). He was elected as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Current Ophthalmology (official journal of the Iranian Society of Ophthalmology, published since 1969). In addition, he is a member of the Editorial Board of two Pubmed-based international ophthalmology journals. He is a reviewer for several international ophthalmology journals. He has involved in the training of several residents and retinal fellows in his center. He was the moderator and speaker in several international ophthalmology meetings including Iranian Society of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, Word Ophthalmology Congress, International Congress on OCTA and enface OCT (Rome), and Middle East African Congress of Ophthalmology. Moreover, he was honored as a board member of the Iranian National Board of Ophthalmology in 2015 (highest educational ophthalmology board in Iran). Dr Falavarjani was appointed as the Director of Eye Department, Rassoul Akram Hospital, in 2011, and Chair of the Eye Department, IUMS, in 2019, based on his qualified efforts.
