Applied research at the intersection of distributed systems, networking, and data processing. Went on leave to work on bio-data projects at Illumina from 2012 to 2014. Now at Human Longevity, Inc. building data systems and using statistical models (machine learning) for understanding whole genome data. Prior to this I spent many years as a research scientist in the CSE department at UCSD working on interesting systems, (co-) advising MS and PhD students, making rain, and publishing papers. I remain an associate research scientist at heart and co-advise / publish in my spare time.
