Kavindra Kumar Kesari

I am currently working as Senior Scientist in the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems, School of Chemical Engineering at the Aalto University, Espoo, Finland. I have obtained Doctoral degree in Biotechnology from India. I received Junior and Senior Research fellowships during my Doctoral studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. I continued my academic research as “Research Associate” at JNU, New Delhi. I was mainly involved to see the radiation exposures effects on male Wistar rats with focus on brain and reproductive system & disease treatment with both, in vivo and in vitro model. Several important findings were investigated i.e. radiation causing DNA double strand breaks and brain impairments, testicular cancer and infertility and cancer-causing several other associated factors. Later, I served as an Assistant Professor position at Jaipur National University, Jaipur, India, where I received major research grants from Government of India to establish Radiation Biology research laboratory. I obtained my first Postdoctoral research from University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland. Here, I was mainly involved to see the Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Field effects on genomic instability with focus on micronuclei and superoxide production in human/ animal neuronal cell lines. Currently, I am working on the extraction of bioactive compounds for the treatment of Alzheimer´s & cancer diseases. Research also focusses to see the ultra-structural and biochemical characterization of woody and non-woody materials. I have been published over 100 papers in reputed scientific journals, 30 book chapters (all in Springer Nature), 6 books and presented over 35 papers at national and international scientific meetings. His Hirsch index (h-index) as of June 2022 is 31 on Google Scholar (total citation 3700). I am serving as subject expert for many International committees and also Editorial board member and reviewer of repute. I have received four times young scientist award and international travel award. Also received several grants and supervised master and doctoral students.
