Research
Adipocytes play a central role in energy balance, and dysfunctional adipose tissue severely affects systemic energy homeostasis. Overall, my research is focused on exploring the molecular mechanisms regulating adipocyte function, both normal and in the insulin-resistant state, using experimental cell biology methods and sophisticated microscopy techniques at a single cell level. Specifically, we are interested in the very early changes in insulin signaling and glucose transport in mature adipocytes in relation to cell size, to unravel the cause and consequence behind adipocyte dysfunction.
