Research interests The main focus of my research is understanding the nature of (virtual) institutions and their application to the correct behaviour of software systems. Consequently there is a strong practical orientation involving significant software development. All the application areas are intrinsically distributed, such as agent-based systems, agent-based simulation, governance of agent interaction by (virtual) institutions, verification of (virtual) institutions, grid trading systems, mechanism design, (mathematical) web service brokerage, (mathematical) web service composition, semantic service description and discovery, distributed sound synthesis and distributed musical performance using software and human agents.
