Teaching includes courses related to plankton and the pelagic ecosystems. I am the author of more than 30 publications in scientific journals and books, and I have coordinated several scientific projects. My experience in Oceanography is on the interaction between marine organisms and environmental parameters in coastal and oceanic South Atlantic and climate change. I have served on the Global Ocean Observing System Scientific Committee (GOOS-SC) of the Intergovernamental Oceanographic Committee (IOC) from 2002-2007, and was reappointed in 2012. He is a member of the Pool of Experts of the for the United Nations World Ocean Assessment. During his stay at IMAS he intends to use new quantitative methods to re-visit data collected during the last 30 years in the South Brazilian coast.
