I am a broadly trained microbiologist and medical entomologist. My lab investigates insect-microbial interactions, primarily involving bacteria and urban pests. We employ diverse approaches and tools drawing from the disciplines of microbiology, insect physiology, and molecular cell biology. Specific research interests include: pathogen transmission by cockroaches, emerging human pathogen surveillance, the effects of the gut microbiota on physiology, and entomopathogens for biological control.
