Jose Aumentado

José Aumentado received the B.S. degree in physics from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, USA, in 2001, studying mesoscopic electronic transport in hybrid normal/superconducting circuits. He began as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Boulder, CO, USA, in 2000, and continued as a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellow from 2001 to 2003. As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, he studied single Cooper pair tunneling devices and nascent superconducting qubit circuits. Since 2003, he has pursued research in technologies surrounding superconducting quantum computing, including novel parametric amplifiers and frequency converters, rf/microwave characterization at cryogenic temperatures, and parametric coupling techniques for quantum state measurement and control. He served as a Group Leader for the Advanced Microwave Photonics Group at NIST from 2015 to 2023, where he is currently a Project Leader leading the development of superconducting parametric amplifiers. He is also a Senior Fellow at Quantum Circuits Inc., New Haven, CT, USA.
