Bio
I study biogeochemical cycling of carbon (C), and nutrients in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. I find biogeochemistry very exciting because it is a synthetic, interdisciplinary field, integrating ideas from many perspectives for a deep understanding of the myriad factors driving element cycles. As a result, biogeochemistry is a strong central organizer for courses and research projects that train students in the habits of mind they need to be good synthetic thinkers and problem solvers.
