ONTINYENT (VALENCIA), 1954. He is Professor of Prehistory in the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology at the Universitat de Valencia. He starts his education in Spain, in 1973, obtaining his graduate degree in 1978. In 1981 he was awarded with a research fellowship founded by the Museo de Prehistoria (SIP, Valencia) to study the Bell Beaker in eastern Spain, which serves to update the state of the archaeology in this area. The results of this research were published in 1984 as a monograph. In this year he entered the university of Valencia as Lecturer and start his PhD research about the Early Neolithic, finished  in 1986, and published in 1988 in the prestigious Spanish series Trabajos Varios del SIP, (vol88). From 1989 he holds a consolidated position (Senior Lecturer) at the University of Valencia teaching European Prehistory, and since 1996 he is full Professor at the same University. His research interests focuses in Neolithic transition in west Mediterranean as well as the evolution of early social complexity from Neolithic to Bronze Age in Iberia. He has directed excavations, surveys and research projects (see below) in distinct areas of Mediterranean Spain. His diverse publications span landscape archaeology, prehistoric technology and style, prehistoric rock art, agricultural origins, prehistoric exchange and interaction, and the development of social inequalities beginning with the Neolithic Transition. Although all his professional activity was carried out at the University of Valencia, he moves to other countries and work with other teams, to know other methodologies that then he try to apply and develop in his work. In these sense there are two turning points to highlight.
