Jiang-Jen Lin

Jiang-Jen Lin received his B.S. (1969) from National Taiwan University (NTU), MS (1972) from the same university, and Ph.D. in Chemistry (1977), Georgia Institute of Technology, under Professor E.C. Ashby. From 1977 to 1979, he received his postdoctoral training from Professor MF Semmelhack, in Cornell University and Princeton University. He worked in Austin Laboratories of Texaco Inc. from 1979 to 1988 and in Westhollow Research Center of Shell Development Co. in Houston from 1988 to 1995. He moved back to Taiwan and became a full professor and department chairman for two years in the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Chung Hsing University for 10 years. Since 2005, he has moved to National Taiwan University, Institute of Polymer Science and Engineering, in Taipei. Currently he is the Director of the Polymer Institute. His has received a number of awards including the Excellent Research Award of National Science Council of Taiwan (2007), the Distinguished Engineering Professor Award (2008), and current the Distinguished Professorship of NTU. He has published over 140 papers and awarded over 120 US issued patents. His research interests include polymer synthesis, polymeric surfactants, amphiphilic and functional polymers, self-assembly of clay crystals, nanomaterials and applications in solar cells, and new antimicrobial materials.
