个人简介
Dr. Marsack’s research has focused on the effect of stigma and discrimination on various health outcomes for sexual and gender minority persons. She is committed to promoting DEI initiatives to benefit this population, and has served on the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association’s nursing section. Her interests also include end of life care, which she deals with in her clinical practice. She works clinically in adult internal medicine at Michigan Medicine, with an expertise specialty in providing peritoneal dialysis. Dr. Marsack provides medical-surgical clinical instruction to undergraduate nursing students at Michigan Medicine. Her clinical instruction encompasses a perspective of holistic care for diverse patient populations. She finds it personally rewarding to share her knowledge, and to teach the methods needed to translate nursing theory into clinical practice.
Jessica enjoys working with undergraduate nursing students, and finds it especially rewarding to create positive learning experiences to encourage growth early in the educational journey of new students. Her teaching philosophy is coupled with a personal philosophy to promote optimal student success. Her teaching philosophy is largely centered on Socratic methods and student engagement, and her personal philosophy facilitates student learning by aiming for anxiety reduction to facilitate honest communication. This is conducive to a culture of safety in a learning environment, which is critical to fostering student growth. In addition, she consciously adjusts activities and teaching style to individuals’ preferred learning modalities when able. This creates a more engaging learning environment than a standard, one-size-fits-all approach.
