Bio
I lead the Falls and Mobility Laboratory at the University of Delaware. I hold an appointment in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, with affiliations with the UD Biomechanics and Movement Science Program and the Nemours A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children.
The long-term goal of our research is to reduce the incidence of falls, lessen the severity of fall injury, and enable physical activity in patient populations. We employ clinical and biomechanical analyses of mobility and balance, including tests of rapid balance reactions. These analyses guide specific exercise interventions. We have applied this framework to older adults, individuals with chronic stroke, children with cerebral palsy, and those with lower extremity amputations.
