个人简介
Jean-François TERNON is a researcher in physical and chemical oceanography, specialized in the analysis of the relationship between resources and environment. He started his career in the western tropical Atlantic Ocean (French Guiana and Brazil) by participating in the international WOCE (Worl Ocean Circulation Experiment) program (specialty: measurement of dissolved gases CFC, CO2) and then by joining the National Coastal Oceanography Program (then PN Coastal Environment) PNOC/PNEC.
Since 2005, he has been working mainly in the southwest Indian Ocean (Reunion Island, South Africa). In particular, he led the MESOBIO (physical-biological interactions associated with mesoscale eddies in the Mozambique Channel) and MAD-Ridge (ecosystems associated with seamounts in the southwest Indian Ocean) programs. In this framework, he participated in the FFEM-SWIO program (governance support in the ABNJ area - case study on the Walters Shoal seamount in southern Madagascar).
He is currently coordinating the RESILIENCE project which studies the physical-biological interactions at small scale (front zones at the edge of eddies in the Mozambique Channel).
He also participates in the DiDEM program (science-decision-maker dialogue in the western Indian Ocean) for his expertise on ecosystems associated with seamounts.
An important part of its activity is linked to the realization of multidisciplinary oceanographic campaigns (Indian Ocean and Atlantic) and to the scientific valorization of data acquired at sea.
