His primary research interest is in youth violence prevention, with a focus on community-based participatory research in the development of violence intervention programs and injury epidemiology. He was the principal investigator for a violence prevention program implementation and evaluation grant from the Avielle Foundation and was the Research Director for an NIH-funded youth violence prevention study. He also serves as the Co-Leader of the Early Career Injury Prevention Group for the Injury Free Coalition for Kids (IFCK) and has co-authored multiple reviews and chapters on injury prevention with leaders from IFCK and the AAP. Dr. Dodington’s passion for injury prevention and research has allowed him to speak locally and nationally on topics from consumer product safety, water safety and drowning prevention to firearm injury prevention.
