He is a highly cited researcher with over 200 technical publications and has served on numerous expert panels, advisory and review boards, and delegations for government agencies, professional groups, private industry and others.
He has taught academic courses, professional workshops, and invited seminars in over 15 countries, and has directed many research and consulting projects involving contaminant transport and remediation at refineries, terminals, manufacturing plants, and other facilities.
Parker’s research focuses on inverse modeling, analysis of prediction uncertainty, and stochastic cost optimization of engineering decisions. Parker and colleagues have developed more than a dozen computer programs to address a range of subsurface contamination problems, which have been used throughout the US and in more than 30 countries.
In addition to environmental remediation problems, Parker is interested in the application of advanced computational methods to develop efficient, cost effective and environmentally acceptable recovery of unconventional fossil energy sources, such as oil shale.
