His research interests at present are mainly related to the use of ultrashort laser pulses for materials processing. He has also made a number of contributions in other topics related to laser-matter interaction, like optical recording, non-linear optics or ultrafast imaging. He has published about two hundred research papers and delivered more than fifty invited talks in these topics. He is member of the Materials Research Society (MRS), Senior Member of Optical Society (OSA) and co-founder of Specialized Group in Ultrafast Lasers of the Royal Physical Society of Spain.
