My research falls within the field of plant pathology and genetics with a specific focus on wheat rust fungi. The focus of my research addresses fundamental aspects of the infection biology and population genetics of rust fungi occurring on the cereal and the sexual host (Barberry species). Overall, my research aims to improve our knowledge of fundamental biological, genetic and epidemiological aspects of the host-pathogen interaction aiming to develop improved disease management strategies with direct implications to achieve a sustainable cereal supply.
