    Professor Moss is an ACM Fellow (named in 2007) and an IEEE Fellow (named in 2010). He received a National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award in 1987, a University of Massachusetts Amherst Lilly Teaching Fellowship in 1991, and a UMass TEACHnology Fellowship in 2005. In fall 2009, Professor Moss received the UMass Amherst Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Research and Creative Activity. In 2013 he was co-recipient of the Edsger J. Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing for his work on transactional memory.
