J. D. Herbst

John Herbst received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He joined the University of Texas Center for Electromechanics (UT-CEM) in 1985, and is currently an Associate Director. Presently, he serves as Co-Principal Investigator for the Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium, a long-term technology development program sponsored by the Office of Naval Research. His research interests include high performance rotating electric machines, turbo-machinery packaging and integration, flywheel energy storage, advanced power conversion technologies, high performance composite structures, microgrid power systems, and pulsed power technologies.
