We are currently focused on dysregulation of miRNA expression and alternative mRNA splicing in arsenic induced skin carcinogenesis. We use long term exposure of human keratinocytes to 100 nM sodium arsenite and overexpression of selected miRNAs in longitudinal studies and analyze expression and mRNA splicing by RNAseq and western blot and proteomics. We also use biophysical assays and mass spectroscopy to study displacement of zinc by arsenite in critical zinc finger proteins.
