Isabel Roldan-Ruiz

Prof. Isabel Roldán-Ruiz is scientific director of the group of Plant – Growth and Development of ILVO, and 10% professor at Gent University. She has a background in molecular genetics and genomics of domesticated and natural populations and has co-authored over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Her team at ILVO performs multidisciplinary research on crop performance in interaction with environmental factors. The group combines expertise in ecophysiology, phenotyping, molecular genetics and genomics and modelling to investigate the processes that determine plant growth, crop productivity and biomass quality, in relation to environmental factors such as nutrient availability, light, humidity or temperature. State of the art phenotyping tools under controlled and in field conditions are developed and used to investigate responses to natural or artificial selection and mechanisms underlying adaptation.
