At University of Wisconsin Dr. Slukvin developed research program in hematopoietic, endothelial and mesenchymal development from pluripotent stem cells. Dr. Slukvin's laboratory identified major cellular pathways in development of mesodermal lineages from pluripotent stem cells. His laboratory also discovered novel progenitor for mesenchymal and endothelial cells, mesenchymoangioblast, and markers for hematopoietic progenitors, hemogenic and non-hemogenic endothelium, mesenchymal stem cells, pericytes and smooth muscle in pluripotent stem cell cultures. Currently his laboratory is working on 1) identification of genes essential for acquisition of long-term engraftment potential by pluripotent stem cell-derived hematopoietic cells; 2)advancing iPSC technologies for cancer immunotherapy; 3) establishing non-human primate models of ES cell and iPS cell-based cellular therapy for blood and immune system disorders
