His research interests include semiconductor materials and devices, Nano-metal oxide thin films/powders, Nano-metal chalcogenide thin films/powders, Organic thin films, Organic Schottky diodes, and Polymer composites/nanocomposites, grapheme oxide/nanocomposite, Bio-ceramics, and Nano-catalytic materials. Prof. Yahia won fifth prize in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The first was the State Incentive Award in Physics from the Academy of Science and Technology, Egypt, 2012 (1st Award). The second was the Award of Abdul Hamid Shoman for Young Arab Researchers in physics in 2013 (Sharing the 1st Award). Third, In March 2017, he won the King Khalid University distinguished prize for teaching (1st Award). Fourth, he won the King Khalid University Excellent Prize in Research in April 2019. Fifth, on 30-March 2022, he won the Abundance of Scientific Production at King Khalid University for the Year-2021 (1st Award).
