Prof. Sharp investigates advanced semiconductors, nanostructures, and interfaces for applications in renewable energy conversion, with emphases on solar photovoltaics and artificial photosynthesis. His particular interests include explorations of the fundamentals of electronic structure and charge carrier dynamics in new and emerging semiconductors, the coupling of chemical transformations and physical properties of materials in complex environments, and new concepts in energy conversion via controlled synthesis of heterostructures and nanosystems.
